Non-Legal Siblingship Test

With our non-legal Sibilingship Test, you can collect DNA samples privately and confidentially in your own home. When all testing procedures are carefully followed, the results of the test will be as accurate as with any other collection procedure. However, the information obtained ca not be used in court proceedings because the process does not follow approved chain of custody requirements.

Legal Siblingship Test

Legal Siblingship Testing follows the strict requirements of chain of custody, and therefore can be admitted as evidence in court. If the purpose of testing is to conclusively determine genetic relationships for custody, child support or inheritance in a legal or government proceeding, our binding legal testing protocol is the appropriate choice.

What is a sibling DNA test?
A sibling DNA test is a type of genetic test that analyzes the DNA of two or more individuals to determine whether they share a biological relationship as siblings.
How does a sibling DNA test work?
A sibling DNA test works by analyzing specific regions of DNA that are known to vary among individuals. The test compares the DNA profiles of the two individuals being tested to see how much of their DNA is shared, which can indicate whether they are likely to be siblings.
Is a sibling DNA test accurate?
A sibling DNA test can be accurate, but the accuracy depends on several factors, such as the number of DNA markers analyzed and the quality of the DNA samples provided for testing. The more DNA markers analyzed, the more accurate the test is likely to be.
Can a sibling DNA test determine full versus half-sibling relationships?
Yes, a sibling DNA test can typically determine whether two individuals are full or half-siblings. Full siblings share more DNA than half-siblings, so the amount of shared DNA can indicate the nature of the sibling relationship.
What kind of DNA samples are required for a sibling DNA test?
The most common types of DNA samples used for sibling DNA testing are buccal swabs, which are taken by swabbing the inside of the cheek, or blood samples. Some labs may also accept other types of DNA samples, such as saliva or hair samples.
How long does it take to get results from a sibling DNA test?
The time it takes to get results from a sibling DNA test can vary depending on the testing laboratory and the type of test performed. Some labs offer expedited testing with results available in a few days, while standard testing may take several weeks.
